Asset overview

Understand the setup.
Then make it your own.

Data Read is a Blender Geometry Nodes asset in OmniKit’s modeling collection.

REQUIRED: use From Object with published data, or enable Use This Geometry for geometry passed through Data Publish. An unassigned external source returns no geometry. | MESH INPUT: drop on a mesh, or feed mesh geometry to Geometry. Apply object scale for predictable distances. | Data Read - read a named channel from a data bundle attached to another object's geometry, or to this one. Addresses channels by name at runtime, reports whether the channel Exists and falls back to a value you set when it does not, and can strip the bundle after reading. Pair with Data Publish on the sending object. Built on the 5.2 geometry bundle nodes.

Its exposed inputs include Use This Geometry, Channel, Fallback, Vector Channel, Geometry Channel, Remove After Reading. Review the control reference below to plan a suitable setup.

Source and setup notes

Source node name: OMNI - Data Read

Collection: 22 Geometry Nodes/Attribute/Named Attributes

Structural inspection used Blender 5.2.0 LTS. Other releases and render engines require separate checks.

How to approach this asset

  1. Check the source notes for the expected mesh, curve, field, shader or World context.
  2. Start with a disposable scene and a suitable input. Inspect required object, material or collection inputs.
  3. Adjust one documented control at a time. Evaluate the result before using it in a production project.
